2010: A retrospective

Well, I'm glad that's over. 2010 was a terrible year for pretty much everyone I know and love. While I really hope 2011 brings more good times than bad I can't help but fear the worst.

  • The Boy turns three
  • Grit Girl skids along the front line in the epic battle against the snow
  • GovCamp at the Google cave: inspiring shared stories and catching up with friends, while raising a glass to those gone too soon.
  • My one and only night out of the year; ends in tears.
  • LocalGovCamp LDN. News of more epics lost to localgov and a messy afterparty and journey home via a MaccyD's in Kings Cross.
  • Mentioned in a Big Report. 'We've come so far, but we hope for more'.
  • Dog up and died. Goodbye Sgt Pepper you big spotty heap of crazy x
  • Rumours heard: Bob is back in the band.
  • Unused: ticket for Hot Chip.
  • Mum not getting any better. Worried.
  • Office politics.
  • Reality bites: mum needs brain surgery for tumour.
  • Unused: ticket for Ash.
  • Four days in Newcastle as mum has surgery. Good and bad news delivered.
  • Unused: ticket for The Pipettes.
  • A big fat positive. Pregnancy journey begins.
  • ConDem.
  • Mum has chemo / radiotherapy. Miss talking to her.
  • Antenatal depression, morning sickness, fear.
  • LocalGovCamp Yorkshire and Humber
  • Turning 31...or 29 again.
  • More talk: is the four now five again?
  • Failing to keep steady.
  • Confirmed: original line up back in place. Worried.
  • Five years of being Mrs DeadApprentice
  • Good time tickets are ours for 2011.
  • All other fears seemingly becoming material.
  • Baby shower
  • Missing being Grit Girl as snow hits again
  • Tweet up and plans for SMC in 2011
  • The uncertain future of localgov.
  • An unfinished disseration.
  • The Baby arrives. Our little souvenir of a terrible year.
So, at the top of a new year, I'm facing the reality of situations you never want to look in the eye. It's the best and worst of times but what is abundantly clear is that things move fast, people are precious and you should make the most of every moment...there is less time than you think.
