Top five: music things I want to share with you

1. The Long Player @ Derby Quad
   A new night being masterminded by the guys at Snug Recording Co with Derby Quad Music giving a chance to hear an album in full. It's kicking off on 22 March with Marvin Gaye's What's Going On and there are already a bucketful of amazing suggestions for follow up albums in the comments here. Get along if you're in the Derby 'hood or spoil yourself and join the FB group.
   
2. EpicMixtape
   Yes, I'm one of the people that set this little wheeze up so of course I think it's worth sharing. What started as a random conversation after an item on Radcliffe and Maconie is slowly gathering more people and there are some really interesting mixes being added. Always on the look out for new mixers so get your play and record finger ready. Join us on the twitters.
3. This Song Will Change Your Life @ Derby Quad
   Yet another interesting sounding night coming out of the Derby Quad Music stable. Like The Long Player it seems to come from the realisation we don't listen to music in the same way anymore. This Song... is more like a mixtape or a night where one record just leads to the next and the next and the next as you man an expedition through your collection. Again, this is primarily a PSA for those in the Derby area or people who like to look at stuff on FB.
4. One Week One Band
   An interesting idea for a collaborative blog which does exactly what it says on the tin. Each week a guest blogger writes about a band. You get at least one audio and post each day as well as anything else the contributor wants to throw in. They're currently heading through a week of Curve.
5. Free stuff from Needle in the Groove
   Needle in the Groove is an independent netlabel which believes in getting music heard is more important than people paying for it. They've currently got a free mix cd available and every artist featured has something you can get to for free online as well. Worth a listen if you're looking for something new rather than a new way to listen to old stuff (as per items 1-4).
