The sweetest thing

Camera Oscura - My Maudlin Career

There is something of a perpetual summer dusk about this record. Hazy, languid and happily drowsy from gently warming while laid on it's back in river side field.
It's mellow without feeling lazy, easy to listen to without being Easy Listening.
It's none too challenging, but then summer evening aren't. The back beat stays fairly constant with the melody and vocals shimmering over the top.
This is a delicate record which drinks deep from the well of indiepop tweedom. Exactly what you would expect from this band after all these years.

*This review has been hanging around unfinished for weeks now. So, it's succinct and slightly cold but I wanted to publish it rather than keep it in storage.
